JENNYLOU MELCHER
A Wichita native, Jennylou provides not only the name for the band, but also some fine original songs, a big voice, and a sprinkle of glamour. She keeps the band in the groove with her solid rhythm on the bass. Jennylou is a Domestic Goddess, riding herd on her and Josh’s three adorable children. In her spare time, she occasionally writes reviews, recently giving the sun a review of "one star". Oh, and the band logo? Yeah, she does graphic design too.
JOSH MELCHER
Hailing from the flatlands of Kansas, Josh is not only the tallest member of the band (and four of the five members are above the 90th percentile in height), he sings and writes songs with his wife Jennylou, plays a smoking lead guitar, and slips and slides all over with his dobro. Josh is a professional sound man, and, if your house is broken, Josh can fix it.
RANGER STAN GREER
Ranger Stan Greer sings, plays guitar and mandolin and makes crowds groan with some of the finest corn available without a prescription. Not only is he a self-described Superstar Cowboy Singer, but he also accidentally won the Kansas State Mandolin Championships back in 2014, and, if you ask him, he'll tell you about it. Ranger Stan is a retired math and science teacher and put himself through college playing music in a staff band, The Dubious Brothers, at Silver Dollar City. He gleefully describes the phenomenon of David, Jennylou, Josh, and Edith telling more jokes as "ruining the band", emphasizing to his protégés that "a groan is better than a laugh, because it means you really got 'em."
DAVID HAWKINS
David is also amazingly tall, but that didn’t stop him from winning the Kansas State Banjo Championship and the Mandolin Championship in the same afternoon. He’s been known to sing and tell stories as well. David recently retired from a very successful career as the Vice President of a large insurance company. He is now enjoying the simple life of a retiree - traveling the world while also being constantly involved in everything back in Wichita. You can find him playing jazz mandolin any time he can find someone who will listen, which is pretty often, because his jazz licks are hot enough to fry an egg.
EDITH SIGLER
Edith (aka Dr. Sigler) is a Missouri transplant. She grew up playing twin fiddle with her brother in her family's old-time band. More recently, she has won the Kansas State Fiddling Championship three times (including August 2025), the Pennsylvania State Championship, and placed in the top five three consecutive times in the nationwide contest at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS. Edith is currently a medical resident, having recently graduated from the KU School of Medicine-Wichita. She likes seeing patients because it gives her a captive audience for trying her hand at Ranger Stan's jokes. In her spare time, she plays bagpipes with the Wichita Caledonian Pipes and Drums. She and Ranger Stan have matching "Bird Nerd" shirts.
